    i have a 08 passat diesel esate and the heater blower only works on full speed seem to remember have a similar problem on a freelander which im sure was a resistor . any idea if this is an easy fix or a garage job

    Depends if you have basic heating / air con or climatronic. The basic set up uses a resistor pack. The thermal fuse blows and leaves only full speed working. You can solder a new fuse on or replace the whole thing. It drops out the heater bottom, behind the glovebox. Very simple job. If you have climatronic it is a different ball game.

    I replaced my first resistor pack at 90,000, second at 130,000, but the replacement only lasted a couple of weeks.

    VW said the problem was with the blower motor, which was £200 plus to replace.
    2014 Passat Executive estate, 1.6 TDi, 130,000 miles
