    Hi folks,

A little help if at all possible.. Currently have the good ladies Passat Estate in the garage as I noticed it pulling right under acceleration (generally at speed it's worse) - pull back left when you get off the power. The MOT a couple of weeks ago picked up nothing so they've got it back in today for them to have a good look.

They have come back with they agree there is something wrong (i.e. the car does pull), but there is nothing substantially wrong (they can find a small amount of play in one of the suspension arm bushes, but nothing excessive). I have noticed that there is a creak on the suspension when going over speed humps - and a search of the forum shows this to be a known issue, however I can't see how this will be causing it to pull as there would be excess movement somewhere. Tracking has also been checked and is spot on. The garage are stumped and don't want to change the arm as they think it's OK.

    Any ideas/experience/advice gratefully accepted!

    Thanks in advance

    James

This might sound a bit silly, but have you checked the tyres and tyre pressures?

I had a similar issue recently (pulling left under acceleration, albeit not badly, and handling/riding generally like a bag of spanners); being pre-occupied with moving house, I hadn't checked my tyre pressures in ages - when I did them on Saturday, every one of them was at least 0.6 bar under inflated - since inflating them properly, the issues have gone.

In your case, it could even be a tyre out of true or similar?

    Lang may yer lum reek!

What sort of alignment gear did they use to check tracking. Could be a bent suspension arm. had bad experience with some so called laser alignment. they will see if it's bent when they compare old to new. Is there any unusual gearbox whines or noise?

Hi, still here and still in the land of VW and Audi, but we don’t have the Passat anymore. From what I remember, I took it to another alignment place with a Hunter 4 wheel alignment system, they checked it and found a slight variance to the first place - they tweaked it and all was well.

    good luck
