Thought I had an electrical problem as I noticed whilst parking that the nearside fog light was on. I followed a mate out of work and he said that they were cornering fogs and that they lit independently as I turned left and right. Anyhow looking through the MFD can these be turned off , are the coming home lights ?
Wondered why I kept getting flashed ....

"Coming home lights" keeps the headlights on few some seconds after you lock the doors.

It is possible to deactivate the cornering fog lights using VCDS. You'll need to find a local VAG specialist or enthusiast with the software.

I find them useful when turning into side streets, it illuminates the curb. Who cares if other drivers don't know what cornering lights are?
Golf Match 2.0 tdi 140 Bluemotion tech, fogs, folding mirrors. Reversing camera didn't make it, so enjoying DAB.

Other motor is a Nissan Pathfinder.

The coming home/leaving home lights are different settings I believe the headlamps stay on for a bit after you have locked the car so you can see getting into you house (thats if you park in front of your front door) yet another useless feature.

Yes these cornering fog lamps are over the top novelty these have been talked about before on here and users have said it can be misscontrude and an headlamp flash. I believe they only work when that side indicator is flashing as well not just turning the steering wheel.

I haven't really noticed any setting for this in the MFD menus I would turn it off if mine did this if not in the setting with VCDS.

The Seat Altea my parents rented had them- they came on with just the wheel turning, and both came on when in reverse.

Yes really good feature that puts your fog lights on when you're reversing so you can see where you've just been - brilliant !

I find that feature pretty useful, guess it depends where you park your car.
