i've measured 12v at the ignition switch (red/black wire) while trying to crank but nothing at the trigger wire on the starter solenoid.

i think this wire goes directly there (apart from the immobiliser?) so is this the only place to investigate?

are there any fuses or relays involved?

    thanks

from the ignition switch the wire enters the rear of the fuse box terminal H/1 and exits terminal F/1 before going to the starter,no fuses no relays if we are talking manual gearbox

i've found the wire down near the fusebox but doesnt appear to have any involvement with the fusebox due to the wire being spliced to a black wire running to the immobiliser??

i've checked where the wires are joined and have 12v there while trying to crank

i can't get to to where the control box is as access is very restricted!

Find the other end of the splice and join it back together, it sounds like the immobiliser has failed.

the starter solenoid has a direct power source from the ignition switch the wire in question as stated before enters and exits the fuse box,the immobiliser has nothing to do with the starter unless it is an aftermarket unit ?

i'll have a root around for it...

presumeably it will be coming out of the immobiliser control unit somewhere?

this is probably a stupid question...but it there are no fuses/relays associated with this wire why does it go to the fuse board??

that explains it then, the fuse box is a connecting point for most of the wiring,no other reason, and the question is, does the vehicle have an original immo too??????,if that is the case then it is probably an after market alarm that has been fitted which is the problem, these alarms are often connected to starter solenoid
