I've noticed that over the last few weeks, the rear demister is basically pants. It doesn't seem to make any impact on the condensation when on. I have Google'd and searched threads on here but can't seem to find any similar posts / answers. I don't think that the issue lies with the control unit as the light does come on when pushed and stays on until either turned off by me or after what I'd guess is around 10 mins. I've checked the fuse - this was fine. I've swapped it with a brand new one anyway - still ok. To the best of my knowledge it's a B6 module, not B7 - is there a definite way to tell?

The rear window doesn't feel to be getting warm (not sure if it should do). Is it possilbe that the connector may be loose / corroded? Is it easily accessible to check?

There are no other under-lying issues with damp inside the car either that I know of. All floors / carpets are dry and no misting problems with the side windows and windscreen.

Many thanks for any help you can give.

Haven't got a cab so not sure if its glass or plastic in the rear but look for the connections and test for voltage suspect you've got broken elements inside the material,if voltage present disconnect and do a continuity test on the element.

It is a glass screen. I've not had a good dig around yet but couldn't see any connectors.

Would it work if I was to put a probe on the two contacts where the blade fuse would normally be and see if 12v shows when switched on?

If you get a voltmeter earth the neg and touch one side of the blade then the other it will eliminate the switch and fuse but not the element, someone with a cab I'm sure will tell you where the connections are.On the glass you should see a fine copper element,it will be connected somewhere, look for any breaks.

Just had a rethink that will only eliminate the fuse not the switch thats further down the line.

I haven't had the chance to re-solder etc as yet so just reconnected the two wires and secured them using insulation tape. It only seems to have part resolved the issue. The centre of the glass now clears perfectly but the top and bottom don't. Is this likely to be a fault with the glass or could it just be bad contact between the two broken wires and they simply need soldering properly?
