self locking

Following on from my post about key fobs, can anyone tell me why sometimes the car will lock itself when standing idle, a friends bora did it recently and a window had to be sacrificed.

If you unlock the door with the remote and then do not open any of the doors, the car will relock itself after (I think) about 30 seconds. Presumably this is so if you ctch the unlock button in your pocket as you walk away from the car it won't sit there unlocked. The problem occurs if you have a dodgy door switch (the one that turns the interior light on and off) as it will not know you opened the door, dropped the keys on the seat, and then closed it again. Then it will happily lock your keys on for you.
