Don't delude yourself with a MK1 Cabrio (karmmen) being rare but they can fetch £5,000 for good models.

I have one and i know of about 10 in the Edinburgh Area alone (bearing in mind i have a 77 Mini Clubman and its the only 998 clubman in Scotland) . do a Gumtree search and you will find hundreds

Id never buy a car with no Docs never mind a foreign one.

You can only get UK documents if you have the documents from the country you bought it from. There's no other legal way to get them and there's plenty of rag top Golfs available in RHD with at least a partial service history and a V5
