Hello,
I have a MK4 GTI Golf (AUM engine code) and I need to replace the cam cover gasket and I’ve been quoted over £100+ cost of gasket to do the job so I’m looking at doing the job myself!
I have read in the Haynes manual that on some engines you will need to remove the upper inlet manifold? I have always done my own oil change and cam gasket replacements on my MK2 Golf but I understand that on the MK4 it’s a little more involved. For a start, the actual gasket kit has more parts (separate spark plug seals etc). Mine is leaking on a couple of the plugs and down the rear of the engine, so it’s time to replace it.
If anyone can offer me some guidelines, do’s and don’t’s etc. I’d be very grateful.
Thanks
