It is the aluminium box unit with the black plastic electrical connector that causes the problem,it needs dismantling for proper cleaning.
All the information can be found in the old posts.
Read all associated problems before dismantling as it is complicated.
May be better to locate a known good unit for swap.

It may help to fill up aluminium body with cleaner and shake vigorously and use blow gun with compressed air to expel cleaner and swarf (not guaranteed to work)

Well, you could try the various shake it with solvent etc I have four of these Audi's and all suffer the same. Yes you will have to take it apart but before you do buy a gasket kit and be ready with a soldering iron. I have some of the kits ifyou can't source one and I also have a few tips for putting it back together. Problem with a second hand pump is it is likely to already be "blocking up" Arthur
