Changing Door Handle on Mk4 GTI

I need to change the Drivers exterior door handle on my Mk4 1.8T. Pulled the door handle on the door and the bloody thing come off in my hand lol, its broken away from the bit that goes into the car and activates the lock mechanism.

I got another handle from a breakers yard, have resprayed it to colour match, i know i gotta take the door panel off and the lock outta the car, but im kinda unsure how the handle mechanism comes out of the door?

Anyone got any advice on this? i dont want to take it to the ******** and have them pillage my pocket, they want like £150 to change the handle

First of all, get a Haynes manual, they are not as good as they used to be on engines and gearboxes etc but really are still very good on body and trim.

The handle though is quite simple once you've got the doorcard (door steel in the Golf's case!) off.
