As above would like to convert my mmi basic (red screen) to mmi high (full colour) i know of a few people who do it for a living but obviously wouldnt tell me what parts i required. does anybody on here know a list of parts i need to convert it??
i guessed at the bigger screen console buttons cd changer and sat nav drive but i am unsure what else is required. will these parts use the same harness that is in the car??
also i am willing to do this in stages so if i can upgrade my cd player and radio and car computer etc and do the sat nav later i will.

You can buy the whole kit and caboodle from kufatec second hand for about a grand and this lists all the parts required. From memory, you will need:

    New screen
    New head unit
DSP Amp (as you will have MMI High)
New control panel (for centre console)
New CD Changer (not sure why)
    New Sat Nav drive (DVD)
    Wiring loom adapter

There is no point doing it in stages as you will have to rip the interior part. Best to collect the parts up first, take a deep breath and tear down and re-build over the weekend.

there is a couple of sets on ebay which i am tempted to buy they both look equally good but one shows more parts than the other yet both are advertised as complete units?? what part of the wiring loom would need changed i would of thought most of it would be the same?
also with regards to my previous post on the rs6 parts i have opted to go down the s6 route as the parts are way cheaper and i can do it all myself.
anyone that has a s6 front and or rear bumper for sale let me know.

I have an s6 front bumper but I ain;t selling it. Just remember that this bumper is identical to the sline in appearance but has a specific moulded mounting for the LED running lights.

    High guys.

I'm new to the forum, and new to Audi's. I have a 57 reg A6 with MMI basic and would like to upgrade to high at some point and have been doing a bit of research, just found this add on ebay Audi A6,A4,Q7 Convert MMI Basic into MMI High | eBay

Has anyone had this done through these guys, and if so what does it involve/consist of? Am wondering if i could just get the colour screen for now as the monochrome screen is the one thing thats bothering me about the car at the moment, then do the rest of the upgrade in the future?

Also, am i right in thinking that MMI basic does not have MOST and this is why you need to replace the CD changer when converting to High?

Thanks in advance, i have many more questions about the car, but will save them for a new thread

    Andy.

Price is way too low for conversion... IMO it would be near impossible to buy the parts to do conversion at that price...
So is the listing a way of gaining buyers?? have you contacted ebayer got details of what he will do??

There are many threads on various forums about it but off the top my head do not know of one which is a clear cut guide as install is very involved IMO depending on what is already there... A good post/thread to read Link:- MMI Basic upgrades, please halp a newbie! | Audi Forum

My view only and from my understanding/experience when investigating bits/before buying car...

Swap out of screen from monochrome to colour will not be supported by control head/software...

Awesome, thanks a lot guys, will have a read through that lot. That eBay link I posted was just the labour to upgrade and didn't include any parts. Very misleading I think.

Is this the DSP? It's on the left hand side of the boot. Looks like an amp heat sink? Also in the MMI sound settings, i have a DSP option with sound field/focus on driver option. It looks like some retro fitting has been done already as the black box that says Dolphin on it with wires going up to connector block on a panel underneath the window and go towards the front of the car. These look like they may be fiber optic and labeled a b c d, and on top of the box it says DISP and power. Could this be related to MOST?

I am still confused whether i have MMI basic or Basic+. I have a 6 disc changer and Nav in the glovebox and 8 button controls, but it just says MMI Basic on the manual.

Sorry if these are still dumb questions, but i read through all the info posted yesterday and still wasn't able to glean this info I was reading it all till 3am though

And regarding the MMI High upgrade; think i'm gonna buy the bits as and when i can, then pay one of the guys recommended above, as it sounds like a hell of a lot of work. Will be getting bits as cheap as possible, so does anyone know of any specialist Audi/VAG breakers yards?
