    Hi,

This is my first post and I'm new to the forum although I have been reading for months.
So... My Audi A6 2.5tdi quattro (2001) says it needs a service in 200 miles. It has done about 128,000miles now I think and although smooth at times it is a bit ropey at others. So on taking it for a service next week, is there anything specific I should get checked or cleaned? or will the 'full service' at my local garage be enough? Any comments will be appreciated thanks.

Incidentally, there is a weird flat spot when accelerating hard in 2nd gear (quite early on), the headlights are really dim and it takes about 5 seconds of tuning over to start when cold (does this mean the glow plugs need replacing?). I like the car and may tidy it up a bit should this service go well.

Can you let us know how you get on? Mine does not want to start in the winter and I think the glow plugs need changing.

Yeh, it goes in Wednesday. Really struggled to start this morning (I did notice it starts better when the sun is out). However, I think the last few services before I had it only changed the oil, not filters, nor hot flushed it etc. I will let you know how I get on, these guys are supposed to be the bees knees.

Bad news I'm afraid. The Indy Garage looked at my vehicle in the morning and rang me up. They said they didn't really even want to service it as it was so Knackered! Although you cant tell to drive it, as it feels great, the list of problems is endless: Head gasket leak/failure (misfire at 2k revs I thought was a flat spot I had read about with this engine), springs corroded and likely to snap at any time, anti roll bushes all excessively corroded, c link bushes...anti roll bars corroded......

Time to get rid, they said the car would cost silly money to fix. I have only had it 45 days. I paid 3k for it. Do you think I can get any come back from the dealers? Is it worth trying? I'm gutted. (I'm gonna see where else on this site I can post this to get advice too)

What kind of dealer was it...bombsite or tinted glass-and-chrome?

If they aren't fly by night, thay may be persuaded to go some way (finantially) towards fixing the expensive bit which is obviously the head gasket. The rest can be fixed later as the car will once again be worth something....

You certainly won't know till you ask them..
