Looks to me like fault codes are stored and no comms for some reason.

sounds like the wiper stalk might have failed

I had the same thing happen it ended up being terminal 75x relay under the fuse panel on the drivers side

8P A3 rear wiper motors are useless, witness the number of them you see stuck in various positions on cars driving around.
