    Hi all

In the next few months I'm planning on selling my Audi A3 and buying a classic Mini to have a bit of driving fun on a weekend. However I'm also going to need an everday car to get me to work and go on occasional journeys across the Pennines. I don't mind something basic but it needs to be reliable.

I was thinking of getting a Fiesta but then thought it would be good to stay with VAG and so I'm also looking towards a Seat Ibiza, probably a 1.2 or 1.4 petrol, and 1 to 2 years old.

I just wondered if there are any Ibiza owners out there that can give me their view on these, what they are like to drive, what's good/bad, and anything to look for?

As I say it may be a few months before I buy, but it takes me so long to make a decision about cars, I have to start researching nice and early!

Any advice and information much appreciated!

    Thanks guys

I have one, on the whole I like it very much. I chose it because they are quite uncommon, look really stylish, come well equipped and are much cheaper than the equivalent Polo or A1. I did seriously think about a new shape Fiesta but they feel a little cheap/ basic and cost more on the used market. As far as the driving goes it feels very VW-like, has a nice gearshift, well weighted steering and good handling. The 1.4 85PS 16v engine is getting a little old now and isn't as smooth or economical as some rivals, but it delivers adequate power and never feels out of its depth. The 3-cylinder 1.2 petrol is meant to be quite slow, and the 1.6 petrol is costly to run thanks to its higher co2 output, poor MPG and demand for 98-ron petrol. The TDIs/ TSIs are the best but very expensive to buy. Hope this helps a little... is there anything more specific you want to know?

PS - Took me just over 3 months from deciding I wanted a new car till I found one I liked and paid the deposit
