    Hi,

I have a 2007 2.0 TDI Quattro A3. Driving the other day and the blasted glow plug light started flashing, AGAIN....
The car stayed in normal driving mode and when I stopped for fuel the fault didn't come back straigh away - it took about ten minutes. Later that day I drove about 100 miles with no flashing glow plug.....

Upon insoection with VCDS I have got the following fault:

So you have a BMN engine. This is probably a faulty V157 inlet manifold motor.

Hi, is there anything wrong with a BMN engine?
I've had two injectors replaced in the last couple of months!! Thankfully Audi paid 100% of the bill each time......

If the fault happens again I might change the motor. Are they easy to change. No doubt they will cost a small fortune!

    Cheers Al.
I use VCDS and will help nice folk.....

There is nothing particularly wrong with a BMN, it is just that you had not told us so I stated it for the benefit of others. The motor is easy to change but expensive.

Hi Crasher, does it need to be dismantled internally for the flaps to be replaced or just the motor swapped externally mate, TIA.

It is normally just a matter of changing the motor BUT I have also seen damaged linkages.

Thanks for the speedy reply mate, missus car has the errors, adapted, but they return & seems down on power & says economy also down, so I will grab a motor & swap out, seems fairly straight forward, just pita to get to bolts, soon find out when this bloody rain stops lol.

If its the linkages then its a whole new manifold, she wont like that as the cam lobe wore a hole through, rounded cam of & fuel pump nipple worn to an angle, ouch, lucky I could do most except the cam, but 2 year warranty with audi on that work.

There's no linkages on it bud,its not the flaps inside the manifold, its the unit which bolts up to the manifold. The flaps inside the manifold on the BMN run from a vacuum which will not show up on a scan as no electrics involved.Easy job just fiddly.

Well I've ordered the motors (given only denoted by a visual check which ones needed, pita but alas) for her AXX engine for tomorrow, we'll see if this fixes her issue, ordered new coupling arm incase it gets snapped lol.

Ok so that job was a little fiddly to do, only because of the bolt locations, but sorted, calibrated & all seems well now, 5th/6th has its power back & you can feel it allot smoother, the woman is very very happy & saved her the labour cost

Only broke 1 old brittle flexy breather pipe, although the bloody oil cap extension part on the rocker cover snapped of, when I removed the engine cover, but I bonded this back on with topfix which is basically like a weld joint now lol, all's good, if I find a used rocker then I'll swap it out & replace breather.

    Runs like a dream now.
