Hi Folks. I am looking for a van to transport my bikes around and have been looking at Vivaro's and Primastars which are not leaving me inspired at all. My brother has a poster on the wall of his work showing a VW ad for the Transporter as a carrier for your race bikes, I would've thought they were too small but I already own a C20 Caddy and if I could get a Transporter that would be great.

My question is: There is a 2008 T28 SWB Transporter advertised fairly close to me and I'm wondering if anyone knows for sure if large (1000cc) sportsbikes and sport touring bikes would fit comfortably in the back and be easy enough to load/unload?

I wouldn't be using it for large tourers, cruisers or anything particularly massive.

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi WireWalker

I have an LT35 LWB with High Roof - the load area is 4.25 metres long, about 1.45 metres wide (min width - about 1.7 at widest point of arc) and 1.8 metres internal height so lots of loadspace and room to work - I managed to get my next door neighbours mobility scooter across the width of the van via the side door so you could probably get the bikes in and still have room for a robust sleeping area or a reasonable workshop space. Or buy a MWB or SWB and avoid needing 1.5 parking spaces at the local supermarket ...

Bags of power and space - once I get my van sorted out, I hope to take my 2 bikes to France plus my furniture for my new life so I'll be doing the bike loading and sleeping area division - beats a bike trailer and cramped sleeping in a car reclined front seat! Hope this helps.

    Marchie
