I recently had my passat into my local dealer for some warranty work on the rear demister and a suspension knock. These were quickly identified, but they also advised me my alarm wasn't working.

When I went 2 pick the car up, they told me that the reason it didnt work was because it wasnt there.

I bought the car from a different main dealer who had always serviced the car. Does anyone know why they would remove it and not replace it?

Thankfully it has been sorted as it would have invalidated my insurance had it been broken into.

    Cheers
    Kev

I think you will have to ask them what they are talking about. The alarm system is built into the car and can't be left out. The car won't work without it. Did they mean the sounder which is under the front wing?

It may well be, they just described it as the alarm module.

It is still an unusual item not to replace.

I'm going to ring them to clarify.

Just spoke to the service dept. And it was the siren along with the mounting bracket that had been removed.
