Went to get my wheel alignment done today and it looks like the track rod end is well and truly not budging off of the threaded adjustment.

Called Audi up to find out if the could supply the end and the threaded doohikey... They can, but only as part of the full tie rod assembly at £150!

Anyone got any suggestions on how I can obtain a track rod end with this threaded didgery doo on it's own!?

I have attached a pic with the part arrowed, there's no part number on Audi's system....

I also tried euro car parts, their track rod ends don't have it. GSF have made it impossible to check their online site without registering. Still waiting on the registration e-mail....

You should be able to loosen the old unit. Saturate the threaded parts over a few days with penetrating oil. Help this process by
loosening the two nuts and tapping the conical collars off their seats. Try a stilson type spanner back and forward a fraction at a time
on the hexagon part of this threaded thing. You may have to try a few times when oil is working but tighten all up if driving in meantime.

    Regards
    Michael

I think I'm more frustrated that the part isn't available from Audi, it should only cost a few pounds, I'd even be willing to pay a tenner for the hassle that removing it from the track rod end will cause me!

My efforts so far with heat have resulted in the 14mm bolt in the centre getting rounded. I'm thinking next that a hacksaw is the way to go, however the metal of the track rod end looks might difficult to cut!

Have you tried to see if your local factors do an equivalent part? QH list 893 419 802 as being the equivalent to QDL2850S

    Oooooh! I love ebay!

I have found them listed under Audi 80 Tie Rod Connector, only problem is the guy wants £19 for them!

Having got used to parts being a pain to order for these cars I was pleasantly surprised today when I walked into Livingston Auto Parts today and asked if they had QRS5005 and the track rod end to go with it. £15 quid later and I walked out with both. Couldn't believe they had both in stock!

    Thanks for all the replies!
