    Hi

I Have a Audi Q7 S-Line its a big car as you know, and because of this has big brakes, whats the smallest size alloy wheel you could fit onto the car without fitting spacers, I know the Touareg can be speced with 17's but is it the same case with the q7. ideally these are a second set of alloys to go to the alps on skiing holidays instead of paying for 20'' winter tyres which aren't cheap.

Any Help on the matter would be great

Adam, Not sure about 17" wheels but you can definitely fit 18". I have a 2007 sales brochure which lists alternative wheels. No 17s are listed. There is an option to specify Off-road tyres which is listed thus:-

    235/60 R 18 107T (only in combination with 7.5J x 18 7-hole alloy wheels)

I guess this would be the size of winter tyre to aim at, ie not too wide!

    Cheers, Andy

PS see here http://www.blackcircles.com/order/tyres/search - link doesn't work, but Goodyear Ultragrip 500 winter tyre shown at £175 fitted

Make sure they're not off a 2.5TDI Touareg as the wheels are different from all the other Touaregs and the Q7. You need 130 PCD not 120 PCD which the 2.5 uses.

    Hi

Finally got them, they were off a 2007 Q7 SE model, 18'' ET57 and fit a treat, Thanks for your advice, you got any info on tyres, alot of the Land Rover Disco guys seem to fit General Grabbers AT2's I think they would look cool, never seen a Q7 with beefy off road tyres,
Obviously I would not take my Q7 off road but the all terrains look good in the snow and ice, which is why i need them for in the Alps

but so far the 18'' tyres seem alot more quiet and the ride is improved and more comfortable, the only downside was taking off the 20'' wheels, there bloody heavy lol

    Cheers, Adam

Well done - cheeky question - how much were the wheels?

I had general Grabber UHPs on a Touareg and they were great, and a few of the Treg guys have fitted AT2s and found them perfectly OK for normal use. Wouldn't worry too much if you don't like them - they'll only last a few thousand miles...................probably!!

The wheels were on eBay for buy it now £299, but after I watched them and after they had been re-listed twice, I asked the cheeky question about getting them for less, and I did.

Got them for £275 and they had Continental Cross Contact 4x4 UHP's on the alloys with 8mm Tread , The wheels were absolutely perfect, brand new.

Will post a pic of them on, I still have the 20'' Alloys if i want to swap in the future, its just storing them somewhere, there huge lol

    Cheers, Adam

Thanks for the info. I've been watching a set of 19s like those on my car. I feel a bit vulnerable without a proper spare, even if it was in the garage, so I am contemplating buying the set and selling three to other owners. But I also like your idea of a set for off-road tyres, so I might go that way - would double up as spares! As you say, storage is the problem.

    Cheers, Andy
