FAULT LIGHTS up after fitting Xcarlink. ESP ON, Elec Steering fault light on

Hi. I fitted a xcarlink usb module today. Went fine. I unhooked the battery to do it. Put the battery back on and i have two fault lights come up. The car hasn't been anywherw!!! The ESP on light is on at the switch above the gear stick and the Electro Mech Steering light is yellow in the dash. I haven't taken the xcarlink back out again, as its a pain to fit. And i'm assuming that fault lights don't just go away of their own accord.
Does anyone know how to fix this, without a costly trip to a dealer. Any help with this would be much appreciated. Is there anyone in Bristol area who can look at it with the VAG COM computer.Thank you.

You sometimes get wierd fault lights up if the battery goes flat or is left disconnected for an extended period. Electric windows and folding mirrors get confused too. Try driving it around the block, making sure you include having the steering on full lock in both directions a couple of times. Nine time out of ten it will clear the fault lights. If you find the windows and mirrors are behaving oddly, just cycle them up and down or in and out several times.

Thanks for this . YOU ARE 100% right. I re hooked the battery and did the drive...it didn't clear for 50 meters or so, then..magic they went out like xmas lights. THANK YOU again.
