Bought the ecu new from audi got it installed still no improvment apart from the fact that the prnds dont flash as often as before.but the juddering is still there now guys please help me out what coulD that be. The car shows no fault on the diagnostics but still hesitating on pull away and juddering is getting worse iam almost running out of money.. Where do i go??? Does anyone knows if the ecu when bought from audi new is it plug and go type of thing??? Audi just want to eat my money and worse they tech guys dont have a clue what they are talking about... so I am left in the dark please help me....

    Who fitted the ECU?

The juddering is often caused by a failure of the clutch plates. The usual remedy is to upgrade to the 7 plate clutch pack. These specilaist, were they VAG specialists or actual multitronic specialists? There are few outside the dealer network who can work on these boxes properly. Give Indi-Tech in Milton Keynes a call, they are well thought of by lots of people on here and a multitronic specialist. I have used them myself..

thanks mate. Well i bought the ecu from audi. And an audi specialist so to say has fitted it for me. However he can do more than that i dont think.
Well he said that the clutch upgrad dosent apply to me because my a8 is petrol.
If is the clutch do you know what would be the procedure? And how much would it be to fixe it?? Will give inde tech a call for sure.
    Thanks again

The procedure is to remove the gearbox, and strip out the old 6 plate clutch adn install a new 7 plate clucth pack. They also have to reporgram the ECU to reconginse the 7 plate pack. I believe Indi-Tech charge around the £800 mark, which is considerably cheaper than a main dealer will charge

    The workshop manual states:

    P1773
Possible cause of trouble: Hydraulic control assembly contaminated or defective.
Remedy: Replace hydraulic control assembly and change ATF.

I don't really know what that means though.
