    Hi,

I've pulled out my old Concert (non-Bose) stereo and done some homework. I've bought a new faceplate, an amplified aeriel adapter, a wiring loom adapter and all is looking good. However, nothing comes on as there is no switched supply to the new stereo.

The Audi system appears to use a CAN-BUS (hi and low) pair of wires to tell the stereo the state of the ignition key and my new stereo doesn't have an input for this.

Can I buy a relay that will take the CAN-BUS wires and switch a permanently live feed on and off in a similar manner to the original system? Something like this for the aftermarket must exist, surely?

I know that Plan B is to find a switched cable on the ignition, but I'd much prefer to go down the CAN-BUS route if possible. Anyone already done this or know how to?

Yes, I've Googled it and either my Google skills aren't up to scratch or everyone just opts for Plan B.

I'm not called Brian. I'm not even called Bryan. However, sometimes, I might have the surname Bryant and the initials M.A.

    Thanks for the hint though...

For the record, I've now got a fully working replacement (standard ISO) stereo.

It required a new facial surround, a wiring loom and the antenna adaptor, a lot of patience, and quite a lot of fiddling in the fuse box. Wasn't particularly difficult but Audi didn't exactly make it easy either. The CAN-BUS is great in theory, but try to fit third party parts and it is useless. I wouldn't mind, but Audi just don't do a decent staero that'll fit in my car, so third party is the only option...
