Hi, I've got a 55 reg 2.0TDI 140bhp AVANT with 84,000 miles, and all gears between 1800 - 2200 rpm, at light throttle, you can feel the engine 'judder'. To compensate I change down a gear to increase the rpm. The EGR valve/MAS sensor have been replaced at around 65K, can any one advise ?, AUDI replaced a turbo hose as part of a tech bulletin that was never completed under warranty, apperantly this was for a similar issue, this made no difference.

Post the engine ecu data including software version

Remove the fuel filter and empty the fuel into a glass

If its clear then that's fine but if its dark in colour leave it fro two hours to determine if there is soot contamination or oil

If none of these apply then disconnect the egr electrical plug and drive it, please note the mil will come on but see if the hesitation goes

egr is active up to 2,300 rpm

I can see you have had the egr replaced but just wont to know if egr off rectifies the fault

No problem, I need the ecu sw version because there is a software update for this and I need to know the condition of the fuel also before offering any further advise.

A8 Tech, do you own your own garage or just work for Audi?

I would love to take my car specifically to you for work/problems.

Hi, apologises its been a while, I took the car to the local Audi dealership, and eventually got them to confirm the current software was 9618, now 9880 (sorry if this is missing any digits), anyway on my invoice they quoted 'carried out software updates as per TPI 2012506/18. We've done approach 400 miles misfire/judder appears to have gone in all gears. Thanks again.

Mine does the same. 2005 tdi 140. Only happens in 2 or 3rd gear. The odd time 4th. But it's occasional. Hoping my software needs updated. Will this be free from Audi?

    Thanks

    Interesting.
I had a similar problem a 9 months ago, (2006 tdi 140 multi) the main dealer had the car for a week and said that they had replaced all injectors under good will from Audi. Otherwise it would have been a bill for £3000!!!! Cured the problem. I wonder....... Funny but Audi's goodwill only stretched to 50% 4 months earlier when the DMF failed. Maybe I am an old cynic??

Hi a8 tech hope your well.
Ive got a similar issue with my A4 2.0 tdi multitronic I have juddering at 2200rpm in each gear and still felt when in neutral just revving. It also seems to be down on power. I have changed the fuel filter today which was dirty and seemed to have oil or something in it as I tripped it into a cup and could see black drops going in. I've seen loads of posts for similar issues but not sure where to start.
    Thanks.
