    Guys/Ladies,

My 2001 Allroad has sat around for a fair bit now being poorly Air suspension wont lift (either end or side)pump sounds limp if it works at all ...

Was thinking that this would be a massive cost at an independant
however was reading some american sites which basically state that this is a potential DIY and being an Engineer i thought .... (and the missus says (as its sitting in the front garden) i would ask the forum

1 Is it a DIY (plug andPlay)
2 Where is the compressor is it as i suspect pinned to the rear arch next to the pressure vessel and the CD Player???
3 which part do i need (part number would be fantastic mines a2001 Petrol bi turbo) as there would appear to be some German Compressors for around £350

    Many thanks in anticipation!!!!!

The air compressor is on the drivers side towards the front of the spare wheel well (ie. underneath the back of the boot). Its not too difficult to get at, but the mounting screws to the chassis can break if not careful. (Best to put on ramps)

However, I would check the valve block wiring for any frayed or broken wires first. The valve block is on the opposite side to the compressor.

Its also best to check fault codes if you can, this will give you an idea whats wrong.

Ps. If you hear the compressor it always sounds like its dying, because it doesn't normally run until your moving along (when you can't hear it). If there's a problem you will hear it and then it will pump until it gets too hot.

It could be a wire from the pressure sensor in the valve block broken.
