    Hi,

My engine light has been reset several times but it is always on after a few miles. My local garage (not a VW dealer) tells me that he gets the error message "AbgasrueckfuehrungssystemRegeldifferenz", 4593. To me this message indicates that something is wrong with the EGR valve. Another thought I had was that the error is due to a bad Nox sensor. Can someone please tell me if I'm on the right track ?

    Cheers,
    M

The code translates to "Exhaust gas Recirculation System regulating difference" so yes, it's your EGR. Give it a good clean before buying a completely new one.

I got the same error this week in my 1.9 TDI S (2004). A couple of suggestions made to me were obviously to just replace the EGR valve, or the most common thing to do is to replace it with an EGR delete kit like these.... http://www.egrvalve.co.uk/

It's meant to have benefits such as economy blah, blah, blah. Though I'm lead to believe that it'll mean getting the fault permanently disabled in VAGCom, or you'll repeatedly have your Engine Management light on!

    Hope this helps
