Your opinions wanted on brakes

Guys, I am interested in your opinions about how good the brakes feel on your Q7s.

I have just come back to UK after a few months away. One of the cars I was driving in US had the most perfect brake feel - no thought required - powerful and intuitive. Added immensely to the driving experience.

Get back in the Audi and my immediate impression is that the brake feel makes it difficult to brake smoothly. I notice that the initial bite is a bit sudden and that after a moment, the deceleration seems to increase, so I have to back off a little, or I stop short of my aiming point. I should add that this is most noticeable at low speeds or in traffic.

Wondering if it's normal or if maybe my car has had aftermarket pads fitted (had 40k miles when I bought it)

Any thoughts?

From your description my experience mirrors yours. Initial response is very sharp and can catch you unawares at low speeds (5mph). In fact, when I first picked it up from the dealership I nearly went through the windscreen when I gave the brakes what I thought was a "dab"!

I have had times though when I have had to mash my foot into the floor as well, going from 30 to 0. I think it is the mass of the car, once up to speed, it takes a lot to stop it.
