I have just noticed that the wife's new Polo takes 3 or 4 seconds to release the brakes when foot istaken off pedal. This happened on our inclined driveway yesterday. Is this normal?

Yes, mine does it too, althought it was never mentioned in the sales brochure. I don't know if it's in the handbook. It's certainly a useful feature!

Only found this out myself after 4 weeks of ownership of my new polo 1.2 tfsi, not mentioned in any of the specs or as part of the options packages - having said that as per previous threads a very handy feature to have.

Am I the only person that dislikes this function? I asked my dealer at service if it could be turned off and was told it couldn't. My drive is on a hill and have 2 problems with it. I reverse in and have to shunt forward again, but I have to wait til the car let's me, if I haven't forgot to wait and stalled the car, also my wife has stopped, put the handbrake on thinking it was on enough and when the hill hold let's off the car rolled back into the house, luckily crushing a plant pot and not causing much damage. The car is now left in gear as a precaution. I just don't like it... :-0
