Did you try resetting the DIS and taking it on a long run like I said earlier?

    Hi Chris
Yes reset both obc,s. Not as yet tried it on a decent run but appears about the same showing
average of 29 mpg local use. Will take it on a run later today.

    Hi chris
Just been on a 30 mile run and reached 42 mpg so seems better. The 2nd obc reads 36 mpg.
Very careful driving max 70 mph and 57-60 mph half the journey. Do you think thats good for
    an A6 in your experience.

I think it is low. On such a run (depends on outside temp), the DIS will easily show 50 for me. Combined on OBC2 after 70 hours of driving is 42.

The DIS appears to be worse than useless to me - it is telling me I am varying between low 40s to low 50s on my twice daily 11 mile run to and from work. The number 2 (cumulative) one by contrast is telling me it's around 40mpg - how come?

And then the fuel tank test (fill, use, refill, compare with miles travelled) is telling me around 34 usually, with the latest effort telling me it was as bad as 30.6 mpg!

Pity - it could be useful if it actually gave me some information that had a vague truth to it.

imastu pidgit I have posted before on this subject and seem to have a similiar MPG to you.

My DIS 2 isn't reset and shows approx 40mpg, but like you when I calculate I get between 30 -35 mpg..

My DIS 1 shows prety much 45+ (once car warmed and traveling) for most of my journeys.

So now I just ignore the DIS (apart from range)

    So you are not alone!

The DIS calibration can be adjusted in VAGCOM, but personally, I don;t see the point of doing this.

These cars are heavy, and the consequence of this is fuel consumption.

My advice is to get it chipped. At least you get comparative consumption (more if you take it easy), whilst being able to drive the car harder and faster!

I do aggree the A6 is heavier than my A4 . Only about 1 person heavier. My gripe is that official gov enforced mpg figures are incorrect in stating this A6 is more economocal than the
A4. Cars are bought and sold on this imformation. The difference in fuel consumption will cost me around £600 a year. If this had been the increase in road tax i would never had purchased the car.
Had my moan will shut up, and put up with it.
    thanks for all your replies
