This is not serious but a bit weird. On my 2003 Polo 1.2 S, only 11000 miles, which I have just bought there is a mild "tapping" sensation when I'm cruising on the accelerator pedal. Its very very slight but irritating. Its not constant either but comes and goes.

Like I say, I can't see it being serious in any shape or form but is this the kind of mechanical "personality" thing that all cars have in there different way and I'll just get used to it? or is it some sort of "feedback" from the pedal which I assume is electronic ? I guess I'm asking if anyone else has this or knows what it is or can even put my mind at rest

Does the car have a cable actuated accelerator/throotlle body ? It might be the butterfly that opens and closes and the amount of air that enters the engine fluctuates and the engine management system is trying to keep the air/fuel balance or could be the cruise control keeping the car at the same speed by apllying more revs to keep up !

I've got the 1.2i 65bhp engine but I'm not sure what type of throttle control it has...I'll check. Engine revs are normal. Just been for a drive and its like someone is tapping gently on the pedal. Almost like its just a regular vibration type thing . Its not severe as I say but is puzzling

    No cruise control though
