    Hello,

I have an A4 2.0 litre TDI Multitronic, its done 138,000 miles, 05 reg

Few days ago whilst driving it lost power and became very slow; i believe this is when it goes into fail safe mode. Then the power will come back, then go again then come back etc etc.

There are no warning lights flashing on the dash, the gear lights arent flashing etc, all appears normal apart from the loss of power occuring.

Ive phoned Liverpool audi and they cant look at it for a week and a half.

Any ideas? Im just wondering whether it may be time to start looking for a new car if im gona be slapped with a ridiculous bill to get things sorted.

The car is in brillant condition and before this happened was an amazin drive. best car ive ever had.

    Thanks

    Mike

Have a look in the vagcom section for a member in your area with vagcom, get the car scanned for faults.

With a lot of these turbo engines these days , the limp/safe mode cuts in quite often because of the ecu detecting an overboost signal from the turbo, usually because the vanes inside the unit are sticking.
Some people have achieved success having the turbo stripped down and cleaned but many need the item replaced.
Does not have to be crazy expensive, worth a checkout
BUT BEFORE YOU OPEN YOU WALLET , FIND A VAGCOM FOR ERROR CODES as said above
