Finally got round to book the car into the vw specialist I always use. He hooked it up to vcds and there was no errors reported, it saying its working correctly and he mentioned on vcds theres a way to try the individual sensor and all seemed to be working!

So still causing a problem, he does know a mate who works for vw dealer, he rang him and this chap said there is lots of s/w updates also could be faulty wiring.

Looks like a dealer fix job, but Im not going to pay there prices so I'll just live without, thank god its got a button to switch them off for when its constantly beeping.

Mine also has this intermittent fault, I've just got the car so have a 6 month Autotrust Dealer Warranty. I'll give them a call to see if their service is as shiny as their brochure!

I have a 55 SE TDi with rear -and front!- parking sensors.

I gotta say, it is the fronts that play up most, but then they are headfirst into the vagaries of all the recent wet weather, and have driven me bonkers this week.

As soon as I select reverse or switch the sensors on, the front sounds a mix of constant and on/off tones.

I've seen on here before that rewiring them can stop the fault - has anyone had a visual inspection and/or rewire ?

I might just approach my VW dealer, and see what cost is involved / likely cause.

I can live without them but front / rear combined are handy when parking. Will try cleaning them first.
Would not the breeze / engine fan dry out the front ones ?!

I did the same, but have a issue with the car saying the is a problem, although I see it work perfectly before the fauld comes up.
Can it be CP (Component protection) that causes the issue ?
