It appears that my tame mechanic is up to his eyeballs at the moment, as he hasn't got back to me about doing my cambelt and water pump. Besides the fact that I am now getting even more paranoid than I usually am (yes, it IS possible ), I will have the funding available in the next week or so, and want to get it done before I squander it.

I am led to believe that my local dealer is less than brilliant, besides I would like to try and save a few quid too - so, can anyone recommend a decent independent near Twickenham/Teddington/Staines that would do a good job on my cambelt?

If you go to Hampton Court, on the long road between Bushy Park and Home Park, there's an indy on the right hand side just before the road makes a sharp left hand turn next to Hampton Court Palcace

They are called JP Garage, google for the phone number.

They did some work on my merc and then later on my VW Golf when I lived down there.

I know exactly where you mean - just along from the pub on the same side - I'll try and take a drive round there and get a price.

    Thanks

Might be worthwhile at the VW website as they now have a number of dealers signed up for their fixed price servicing plan for cars aged 3-10 years, my local dealer is not signed up to the plan, but 20 miles up the road is another smaller VW dealer who is signed up and seems to be getting very busy lately..... the price quoted for the belt and pump change if £399 all in

Thanks - I'd like to see if I can get it a wee bit cheaper though (money's tight and all that)

Apologies for piggy-backing onto FC's thread, but I too would be interested to know if there are any good Indy's in the Merseyside area

My 2.0TDI '06 plate has done 53k so might be an idea to get my belt sorted also

My local main dealer is a customer service related tragedy waiting to happen, so I'd rather not give them my hard-earned

Have a look in our Reviews & Recommendations of Dealers, Independant Garages & Breakers section for reviews.

Use the "Search this Forum" drop down just above the announcements to drill down to specific regions/areas
