I'm currently on my second MFD2 unit - the first being the CD version which didn't have built in diversity, so the FM reception was non existent.

I now have the DVD version B unit, which apparently does have built in diversity. However the FM reception is just not right, and not as good as the RCD300 that has just been removed from the car.

Is it likely there could be a fault within the actual unit? Or is the Passats twin antenna in the rear window just not good enough for it? (Golfs had one antenna which was a proper stubby aerial on the roof)...

Not sure now whether to try out another version B DVD unit or a version C, or whether to cut my losses, make a slight profit and get the RCD300 MP3 version instead??

Could do with someones help who's very technically knowledgable about these MFD units/VW aerials!!

    Thanks!

Sorry can't help with your issues, just bought a RCD510 from ebay and I'm hoping it's a straight swap. Will have an RCD310 MP3 with the upgraded amps for sale soon but I believe you would need something modding because of the battery drain issue.

    Cheers

hi i bought one of the chinese head units last year and had a similar problem if i plugged both aerials in i got a bad reception so in the end i only plugged one of the aerial wires in and that seemed to sort it and got a better reception not quite as good as the rcd300 it replaced but close. cant remember which one of the wires it was but easy to test tune in a channel and plug in individually till you get the best signal.
