    Hi all

Quick question - whats the going rate at the dealers for a LongLife service on a 1.9 tdi 130? I got quoted £380 + VAT and thought that a bit pricey... Im thinking of swapping to 12k intervals anyway which leads to my next question - how much is the going rate for the 12k interval service? :P

I used to service all my own stuff and wouldnt mind servicing the beast myself, but I want to keep up the full (dealer) service history.

    Thanks

If the car is over 3 years old then Audi have fixed servicing prices for many routine activities.

    the list is here http://www.audi.co.uk/owners-area/se...servicing.html

prices change sometime but the current rates are

    interim service £149.00 (oil change)
    full service £249.00
    Brake Fluid £49.00

Its quite competitive for some things and you if you maintain the audi service history you can get a free MOT as well.

£380.00 seems steep for a full service. what else are they doing over and above the annual inspection, filters and fluids?

have a look for "stafford audi servicing" on ebay, they are main dealers but offer some cracking deals on servicing, have come across people travelling big distances to them and still saving quite a bit of money

Saw the fixed price list, which was why I was a bit confused.. I think as the car is due a longlife service they bump the price up for oils etc... but im not sure how it can be that much more expensive than the price Audi claim on the site! The list of parts they banged off over the phone were:

    Oil Filter
    Air Filter
    Fuel Filter
    Pollen Filter
    Oil change
    Screenwash inspection + topup

The rest of the items were just checks...

Will check out Stafford Audi on bay in a sec - thanks for the info.

Here's a quick tip. Ring them back and ask how much to do the air/pollen/fuel filters? I can tell you pollen is £22.24, fuel is £57.61. I don't have the price for the air filter but remember it being more or less the same as the air filter. If it was me, I'd get them to do the messy bits and I'd change the two filters myself. The pollen filter is £9 normally - but £22.14 fitted. Last year when the basic value service was £99 and the full-on service was £249 - it was cheaper to take the basic service and pay for all the other bits to be done than it was to pay the £249!!

    Cheers,
    Dan.

As alluded-to above, get them to change the oil and oil-filter,
stamp the book, and then you do the rest.

Or just service it yourself and keep the receipts. I'm not convinced a full dealer-history is worth much these days, especially on an older car. However cars under 6 years old - it's still a sale-point.

£22 to fit a pollen filter is criminal. It's literally a 5 minute job.

I agree with the above. Last year I paid £99 for oil+ oil filter change, and got a free MOT at Southend Audi. Worked out good value for money.

Change the pollen filter and air filter yourself. They are both VERY easy to do with only a posidrive screwdriver required for the air filter. (Plus you can vacuum out any rubbish that may have deposited in there such as leaves etc). Go to the parts department and you can get both filters (press for a discount and you will get it)...Haynes manual is also available for this car which explains it very nicely.

    Air filter approx £18
    Pollen filter approx £15

Also worth mentioning you can buy a K&N air filter which is made from cotton instead of the usual paper..theyre about £40, slightly improving MPG (so they claim) and not needing changing, just cleaning every now and then.

See at those prices for parts - 15 quid for the pollen filter - £23.40 fitted isn't actually so hideous is it? (ok it might only take 30 seconds, but the admin to say it's been done and checked for ISO purposes probably makes up the real cost ;-)
