I appear to have an issue with my MMI. The screen in the centre of the dashboard is completely blank, none of the buttons around the centre console light up and the CD player is also completely blank. Also out is the upper part of the display in front of the driver. No Bluetooth for phone either.

The Audi MMI start-up screen appeared - after a blank screen of a couple of minutes - then that too disappeared and now nothing at all. Anybody any ideas where to start looking for such a complete failure?

I have not come across this issue before but would start with the following:

    1. Check around the infotainment rack for any dampness (Avant's have an issue with leaking rear washers damagine MMI systtems).

    2. Check all MMI related fuses.

    3. Try a manual re-set (SETUP, BIG KNOB and top right soft button together)

    4. Get the diagnostics checked to read the fault codes.

Have you tried button next to glove box compartment button, pressing this button will turn MMI screen on and off

Most likely problem is that. Try it and post your results.

Thanks for your answers. I've tried the reset option - it's mentioned in a few threads on here and Page 19 (I think) of the manual - but no joy. I've also tried the on/off button to the left of the screen.

I've not checked fuses yet (will do in 5') as I would've expected them to be okay, as the display did show the start-up screen, after a period of 'blankness'

It's not wet or damp around the 3 x boxes in the left side compartment of the boot, so I don't think it's that - however I have had a few rear-wash-wipe blockages - so I'm down to a diagnostics check, which is probably going to mean a trip to Audi

I don't think this button turns off the DIS screen though does it? I'm missing the top third of that display as well as the lack of radio/CD/Bluetooth etc. Also, I think that it's possible to turn off the main display but still have radio/CD etc. running (strange how not being able to see it, means I can't be sure)

Checked every fuse on the car - assuming there are no more than in the panels either side of dashboard and right-hand side of boot - they're all intact.

DVD will eject and load nav disc. CD player in glove box will load and eject CDs. The radio tuner, up above the metal cage holding the sound amp etc. has no lights showing, anybody know if it should do?

    Hi ragebe,

You look to be having exactly the same problem as I have at the minute. If you look at my thread

    https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=114286

You might be able to follow what the guys told me. Basically my two issues are not connected. I have a leak on my rear windscreen that I thought may have caused a MMI failure.

By using VCDS (VAG-COM) and help from A8 tech and Peter D I was able to determine my telephone controller is dead. I have one on order and will fit as soon as it comes, hopefully without too much trouble.

The failure I'm told may be down to the rear wash pipe splitting a joint that is close by. Will find out when I lift the carpets.

Hopefully, if I can I'll do a "How to" when I get to fit it.

Where are you based? I'm learning VCDS as I go but if you're not close you may be able to get someone on the forum to do you a scan.

    Cheers,

    AndyB
