My A6 Final Edition has just started playing up..

When i select reverse i always get a brief peep sound , the same sound as i get from the parking sensor..

Today when i select reverse the peep noise last for about 8 seconds before stopping, tried my parking sensors and they seem okay..

It has done the same all day today so something has changed.

Does anybody know why this noise would change.

sounds like a 'semi' dud sensor right now.
Wait a while and see if it develops .

if you can get a fault code read done on the car it will tell you which sensor has started to fail, they sometimes can get glitchy and sort themselves out but after a while it will fail, good luck

Yes- it's a easy DIY. Whatever you do- do not buy a used sensor. Also- if you dont want to pay a crazy price- for one -- go on German fleabay --always lots available there . £40 delivered.
Sorry to say though- that once one sensor goes- another one usually follows . I have 4 front and 4 back ones -- but up to now- only one inner and one outer rear sensor gone.
ps- inner sensors and outer sensors are different --so- make sure that you order the right one .
Here's a tip- next time they star playing up-- get yourself a mechanics stethoscope off ebay- they cost £5 ish .
Turn ignition on- put car into reverse-- and 'with stethoscope'-- listen to each sensor . the one that does not make a clicking sound- is the duff one .

Take anothertip--get that stethoscope- and find out which one it is- and then check availability on German Ebay. As scouts say -be prepared. dib dib dib.
