Hi all, I'm giving this one last chance to see I'd anyone out there can help me with removing my speed limiter. I have had 5 companies now try to remove it without success. VW want £1000 to do it by replacing the ECU. I've tried everything. Has anyone got any ideas????

Hi mate my lt35 has a limiter set at 75mph and the only way to remove is to replace the ecu ,they can be set lower but not increased.
I dont mind mine set at 75mph ,any faster and its over reving the engine.

Another thing you must take into consideration,if you should replace the ECU,it is ordered by the VIN,which means the ECU is preset,to 75mph,from the factory

75mph would be bliss! Mine is set at 56 as it is a lt46 but I have had it downplated so no longer a legal requirement. I can't understand why mine is such a problem. Everyone who I have sent the ecu to has initially said they could do it but all have been unable to.
No eshrules, I haven't tried shark 90 I will contact him.
I have been to VW, that's how I know a new ECU is their solution but at a price. They did say that they could supply one un-set though.

Thanks Lee, I did buy one from eBay with all the same codes but that turned out to be set at 56 too. Not had much luck.... I was told that one from a lt35 even with a different part number would still work but would need to be coded though Ive not confirmed this with VW.

He replied to one of your earlier threads saying he'd have a look and if he couldn't there'd be no charge.

Hi, charliebucket, just off subject a bit but i thought might be worth a mention.
I dont know how many miles your engine has done or if indeed it is the original and untouched likewise as what you will use the vehicle for, but, the vehicle has not able to do more than 56 since its birth then to suddenly be able to do 70+ at revs getting towards and over the 3 thou rpm, and all turning pieces wheather engine , g/box/ or axle and bearings are able to rotate faster may make the £1000 for a ecu look like pocket money in repair bills later, may be talking out me tree here but thought might as well mention it
