    hi
    when i brake theres a screeching sound .a friend told me that means that there is only 5mm left on the pad . i was told they have to be replaced at 80,000 miles,i'm up to 93,000. i changed the front ones a few times but im not sure about the back ones

    Drums or disks? I'd get hold of a Haynes manual though- the pictures are useful if nothing else!
    If you've got drums (I think most Polos do) then you'll need to remove the outer drum, change the pads and the adjust it. Not entirely sure though- not done it myself!
