    Hi
I have recently acquired a seat alhambra 2004 1.9 stylance with 36000 miles on the clock.
the instrument panel is showing 47 mpg on average and good running averages.
However doing a manual check over the last 3 fillups I am getting 34mpg. I have not done any long trips yet but regular 20 mile round trips.
    any ideas please?

I know how you feel, I have recently bought a 57 plate a4 2.0tdi 170 93k on the clock. I bought this as the reviews were that it was quite reasonable on fuel consumption. I have been testing the milage and it was doing 26mpg. I then had it remapped, new oil+filter, new fuel pump and then drove it really easy for 50 miles without once giving it a kick. (mostly town driving though) After all that its still only doing 29mpg. I am now going to replace the air filter with a piper cross even though the existing one looks pretty new. We will be going to the lakes and back on saturday so that should give an accurate reading as its a 300mile round trip.

I have read on this site that some owners have got as much as 50 mpg on a good run so this weekend will be a good test for you.
My previous car a 2.5 Chrysler voyager did 36.2 on the onboard computer which matched exactly when I did a manual check, so i am puzzled at the difference with the onboard computer and my manual check on the alhambra.
