Hi folks. I was not too sure where to post this so I have put it here and in the wanted section.
I am going to buy a multi function steering wheel off Ebay with the red SLine badge on the bottom. Brand new for £150.

First of all, I was going to ask if anyone on the forum is selling one or knows of any of the flat bottom steering wheels that they could offer me instead ?

Second thing is that I just have the normal wheel on mine, I take it that I might just have to buy an extra loom for the steering wheel to work off the new buttons and possibly a recode with VCDS ?

Any help will, as always, be very much appreciated

Ok, I bought this one in the end from Ebay after trying a few sponsers from the site but they didnt have them. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...:X:RTQ:GB:1123

Sorry, ignore that link as the seller changed the item number. It is a brand new Audi A4 wheel the exact same as that link but without the paddles as my car is a manual.

So ill first need to check my air bag slip ring to see if it has all 20 pins occupied on the loom side. If not, ill need a new loom and slip ring.
Secondaly purchase the steering control module that you mentioned.
Then ill need to recode them all.
    Is this correct ?
When you mention the part numbers for the control unit and the loom, you say either Q or R for control unit or A or B for slip ring. Why and how do I know which I need ?
I never get a chance to thank you by the THANK button A8, as im normally just on iphone, but im on the laptop now so I have today

Does this sound a fair price for the slip ring considering its damaged ? Are they expensive new A8 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AUDI-A4-AIRBAG...item2a0ad90f6f

post a scan for address 16 to identify your steering control unit

if it ends with Q or R then that's ok

the loom for the muti function will defiantly require replacing

then its just a case of identifying if you have the correct slip ring

    coding is very easy

you adjust the code in address 16 to enable the mfsw controls

if you have radio you adjust the code to add

if you have telephone same again

i will walk you through it

Thanks for the thanks on the dis and cruise thread, its the first ever thanks and it been used by 1000's of people including ebay sellers

The thread has never made sticky status although it covers B6 & B7 DIS AND CRUISE PLUS MFSW

Glad to see someone shows a little appreciation lol

    control unit is spot on

whip the airbag off and disconnect the yellow connector off and count the pins on the slip ring

ebay slip ring has abroken lug so leave it, try german ebay wink wink

Ok, done that and I think this is where my luck runs out
It has 12 pins of which only the top row of 6 are occupied.
