Audi Service or Local Inde?

Hi All,

Our car service light has come on, got 28 days or 5,000 miles to service it! My question is, the car has a full ASH, this is the first service we will have had done on the car. Do I stick with the Audi service or go to a local independant garage I've recently used for a consumer ECU change and found them very good?

We paid through the nose having our BMW serviced only at BMW but cannot really see that they are much better other than gaining a stamp - does it really affect re-sale value that much?

The local garage are VAG specialists and have all the software, and they pick up the car and deliver it back again!?

Lastly, the car is on nearly 16K and is a 2005 reg, what service level is this?

use the indie making sure he uses OEM parts

Petts Wood, near Orpington. What level of service is this? THink I'll go with the independent as they are very good, only use AUdi parts and they collect and deliver the car!

28 days or 5k to next service sounds odd.

Mines 460 days or 1700k to the next service!

You have to weigh up the options your car has 16k on it which is super low miles, however it is comming up 6 years old now so will you recoup the money in selling it when ever you do? I doubt it!

Audi will charge 10K service approx 250 quid, 20k longlife approx 500 quid.

Specialist 10k service 160 quid, 20k longlife approx 300 quid.

My Specialist use genuine Audi or OEM parts so I dont see the point in taking to Audi now that mines 4 1/2 years old with 160k on it.

So think about it.

Good mileage

i thought mine was getting high 63k at four and a half years old

At least yr safe in the knowledge that you got 100k before you catch me up and yours WILL last as long !

My mates get in my car and are shocked that it's 160k ! It's got the s line styling and still is smooth chunky and solid !

i had mine serviced before xmas and audi were doing an offer (but cant remember price) which was not a huge amount more than an independent. if selling car in next year or two would goto audi cos thats what people prefer to see when checking service history. if keeping car indefinately go independent. or if your just tight like me go independent anyway, thats were mine and the misses bmw always go.
