just before xmas my audi a4 2.0 tdi decided to put a big hole in my engine some how the chain snapped and went through the alloy case

its the BLB engine so its known for it

im just wondering what is in the pack you buy from audi for 900 notes
i was told everything but i dont believe it for sum reason

the code for this engine pack is 03G103259AL

i know they have discontinuted the the other pack for the oil pump

but they reckon whats in the pack is

    balance shafts
    oil pump
    balancer shaft
    crank sprocket
    chain
and a few other parts im just wondering if this is correct

i know this is the pack to convert it but im not sure if it converts it to gear driven oil pump and i need someone to shed some light on this

so i need help as i am a little stuck

    all the best

    leighton

Look on your log book at engine number it will have three letters , what are yours .

Type in BLB into the site search there are plenty of threads about this issue.

BLB is a code for a 2.0TDI 140 engine. Engines with this code - usually fitted around 2005 - have a chain driven oil pump. The chain is susceptible to breaking and the resultant repair costs are wallet-damaging. There are codes other than BLB which also have this drive. I don't know what they are, though.

You can find the engine code in the; V5; service book; and, I think, the spare wheel well.

BRD, BVF, BVA, BRE, BLB, BNA, BRF and BPW, BRC

These are the codes that can be affected , only by having the sump removed and an inspection can you tell if its chain driven , but the most common to have this issue has been the BLB .
