I live in Hungary, and our mechanic is a good friend of the family. He helped us a lot in solving this issue. He found this Audi-guru guy here that sells these balance modules. He converts the hex to 10mm himself, and he doesn't sell the modules without doing it, because it's just a matter of time before it fails if it's left stock. He seemed like a very professional and honest guy, which is very rare nowadays.

I would have more faith in this 10mm modified shaft than any replacement kit, even with the longer shaft. Looks like a winner to me. Surely VAG have changed the oil pump set by this stage in the 2.0 Ltr engines? Does anyone have definite info about when ( or even IF) such changes took place? IE, if I buy any VAG 2.0 ltr diesel driven veh, say from 2012-2013 onwards, would I be safe enough? Or has this problem persisted in even newer models?
    Cheers: !!!
    Jim.
