    Hi,

I have a 1997 1.8T A4 which still has original exhaust despite having covered almost 120000 miles and is still sound.
Could anyone tell me whether the car would benefit from a new system to help it "breath".
In other words could the old system be constricting the free running of the engine.
    Engine is fine.
    No smoke.
Averaged almost 50mpg on almost 2000 mile trip around Scotland.

    Any constructive suggestions welcome.

Beware fitting a "sports" exhaust to get "free-flow". Factory exhausts are designed to give a certain amount of back-pressure that suits the engines' gas-flow and valve timing . Sports exhausts often benefit modified engines (particularly if re-cammed) but don't always improve stock engine performance. They can if fitted to a stock engine, actually reduce performance e.g. adversely affect torque characteristics. Be sure to get a range of professional advice.
