A6 Driver Infomation Screen slow to start

I've got a 2006 A6 Avant with the colour screen/ sat nav option. This also includes the colour screen on the speedometer unit. For the last 2 weeks, there's a problem with the screen in the speedo unit (known as the Driver Infomation Screen apparantly). When I start the car, everything appears to work, and the satnav screen comes on, but the DIS will only start after about 30 mins of driving. When the DIS does start, it says 'Airbag OK' and works as normal. It does have the data since the start of the journey.

Once working, it appears to function normally, the display looks good. Incidently, it doesn't make any difference what the temperature is.

Any ideas? I've searched but to no avail.

My small screen had to be replaced. Similar symptoms, it would come on after about 5 minutes and sometimes it flickered on and off before settling down.

Got the impression the dealer had seen the issue before. This probably isn't what you want to hear but I think they had to replace a lot more than just the screen. Don't know hoe much it cost as it was under warranty.
