My SEAT TDi is being written off after an accident so I am looking for a replacement.

I have found a local garage selling a Jetta 2.0 SE 140 56 plate with 130k miles, is that too much for a cat that age.

The car is 1 owner with full full vw history. I have not been to see the car yet but what should I check for a car with that many miles?

    Thanks.

hi mate when i got my golf on an 04 it had covered 109,000 that was in march its now just turned 126,000 i change the oil and filter every 10,000 without fail and all i will say is it was alot of car for the money at the time as most 1.9 tdis with 80,000 were the best part of 2k more

if the price reflex the mileage, and the car seems good then i say go for it mate

I've just got out of a SEAT Toledo 150 TDi on a 53 plate as it was coming up to 120,000 miles (cam belt and all - about £800 at SEAT) and had started smoking. Getting into my new Jetta 140 TDi on a 57 plate it is a much tauter car with 78,000 on it, I hadn't realised how soft and stodgy cars get with miles on them as all teh dampers, springs and bushes all get tired. It's all down to blanacing budget i.e. cash up front or maintenance and a lower purchase price.

The only thing I would say is that cars that have clocked up a high mileage in a short time will proably have spent a lot of time cruising on the Motorway as opposed to stop start stuff.

My old Bora had a big mileage on it when I bought it - 80,000 - and it was a cracking car. My current car, a Golf 1.9TDI - had only 23,000 in 3 years and has been a bit of mare reliability wise.
