    Hi

I asked this question a while back, but didn't get very far and I have asked some site sponsors and even Sachs themselves, but I had my car, an 04 Quattro 130 sport, chipped by Mark about two years ago, I have had some clutch slippage but generally go easy on it, but I want to be in a position if it finally does go to be able to replace it with a clutch that's up to the job, Sachs say theirs will handle 15% more torque, but as I dont know what the standard clutch is rated at how do I know that it can handle it?

I went for the fast road so the dyno showed 177bhp with 295lb/ft after it was done, surely someone else has been down this route, I would like to use the full performance and maybe even do some towing with worrying about the clutch going pop

    Any ideas?

I have the same car and am/was interested. They say on the website it can transmit 15% more torque. Is that the same as handle? I'm not sure.

The torque as standard is something like 285Nm and after a remap about 380Nm - depending on the tuner I suppose. Standard Nm + 15% is only 330Nm, but I'm sure the Sachs should be able to do more than that? Am I making sense?

My standard clutch handles my 160bhp & torque (not sure of figure) but is obviously taking more strain as a result which means it will wear out quicker. Maybe this Sachs one will do the same but be straining 15% less? And/or it will transmit more torque, so that's better pulling power.

I'd love to up by bhp/torque to 170 and am considering this clutch kit when he OEM one eventually gives up the ghost!

I did read/hear somewhere that the OEM clutch can handle up to 310lb/ft but that may be an error on my part, I was also told that when my remap beds in I should get more than the 177/295 figures that came up on the dyno straight after Chip and Spin remapped the car, so if thats the case then I may be very very close to the max, obviously 310lb/ft + 15% would be fine from Sachs but Sachs couldnt tell me what the standard max torque was only that their mod would give 15% more, which I am sure would be on the conservative side?

My engine code is an AVF, I also have seen some uprated clutches with huge figures from the states, but they are for petrol models, they dont do diesels stateside.

Is the clutch in my car shared with anything else, its 240mm in diameter I believe.
