    Hello,

I'm new here and thought I'd say, "hi".
My wife and I have a 2002 VW Bora 1.9 TDi (130) Sport. It's a really nice car, but I'm not too sure about the VW dealerships as far as servicing goes.
I live in Berkshire and I was told that the 40,000 mile service would cost about 800.00+ sterling!
While service centers (Nationwide and Prestige websites) say that the basic servicing costs between 120 and 250. That's a big difference!
Can anyone tell me what the 40,000 mile service should entail and what is a fair price for the UK?
    Cheers,
    Keith (aka Bubby1)

    Welcome to the forum..

In regards to servicing costs... £800 +.. bit steep...

One thing to note,, the cambelt is due at 60k miles.. and that cost around £400 for the belt, water pump etc...

The only way i can see thme charging £800 is if they do a full service, cam belt, water pump, pads and disc's all round (even if they dont need doing)..

You could do with getting a break down... (unloess they quoted a worse case seneiro.... who knows!

    Rick

Thanks for the reply Rick. I've scheduled a major service with Nationwide and it looks like they cover everything for about 1/4 the price.

I've heard people say that the dealerships are way overpriced, but I've heard others say that they're the best way to go. I've decided to try Nationwide car service. They seem to offer everything for a major service interval for about 1/4 the money. :-)
    Cheers,
