    Hi all
    Ive got battery drain , pinned it down to the stereo does anybody know that changing the stereo would cure the problem ??? or is there a underlying problem elsewhere ?

    What stereo. This is quite common with aftermarket stereos when the same feed is used for power and ignition feed.

    It's the standard gamma stereo that's giving the problems

    What sort of drain, is it enough to cause problems? or do you have a poor battery/charging problem and are looking for a reason?

    With the stereo fuse in it's drawing 1.86 amps with it pulled out 0.8 amps other posts report common problem is the stereo but I need to know if replacing the stereo will cure the problem ?

    That's a massive current drain. The stereo must be faulty.

    Before buying a new one, I'd pull it out and unplug it to be sure, in case there something on the same fuse or an accessory fitted behind the dash by a previous owner such as carphone kit or amplifier.

    Nothing else on that line had the car 8 years its standard , tried unPluging the cd Player no change deff the radio
