Hi I noticed today the engine under tray on my A4 has somehow smashed in the middle and is hanging down. (must have gone over a speed bump or sumthin too fast?!). it keeps on scraping on the floor when Im driving and sounds terrible.

Should I just do a diy repair or get a new one, dont know how important it is?

    thanks

No idea how much the dealer charges for this part, probably £80 minimum. Couple of options. If it's just cracked, then it can be held together with some blind pop rivets and a strip or section of aluminium or hard plastic. Another alternative is to source the part from a breaker.

I'm thinking along the same lines as Spartacus, but drill 3 or 4
holes along each side of the crack and hold them together
    with cable-ties.

    Regards

They just quoted me on the rear undertray under the gearbox - £140 inc vat fitted. I know the price of the part is LESS than £50 trade and it's held in by 4 screws I think - so expect the front one to be even more if it's the front one.

Worth nothing that my rear one has been flagged as broken and has been reattached by cable ties "free" by the dealer at the last 3 services......Hats off they do try and flog me a new one every time - however, when I had the multi-oil changed the had to remove it and I asked then how much the quote would go down to given they had to take it off and put it back anyway, and apparently it went down to £120....so I suspect some HUGE margin there!

Also shot the rear liner of the passenger side front wheel-arch on road-debris - a new liner piece is £16 - the dealer wants nearly £80 fitted.....again just a few screws......

Good job I have an excellent indy to get to do things like this - £100 for both done
